SHEV specifications

Incorporated within the extrusion profiles is provision for dual weather seals, control mechanism attachment, hinge positioning and standard glazing bead and gasket for various size glass and insulating panels.

The casement is attached to the ventilator frame using processed stainless steel butt hinges with stainless steel pins and washers and the dual seals are fitted into undercut grooves in the box section.

Adaptor flanges are used to fit the standard base profile of the ventilator to allow pocket glazing into various thickness of glazing systems.

Shev Stirling ventilator has been tested in accordance with EN12101 Part2. In addition the ventilator has been independently weather tested to BS 6375 which encompasses BS 5368 procedures and the following results were achieved :-

  • Weather tightness – No leakage below 600 pa
  • Air Permeability – 600Pa Class
  • Wind Resistance – Subject to positive and negative
  • Wind loads equal to 1200pa

Technical information

  1. Builders Curb.

The stirling ventilator, complete with a turn down base fits onto a builders curb that can be made from timber, steel or concrete. The ventilator can be screwed or bolted on the curb with a sealant seal between. With glass or polycarbonate infill it is recommended that a minimum slope of 5° is introduced to the curb to enhance drainage.

  1. Glazing Systems.

The base profile of the ventilator is designed to be pocket glazed into all glazing systems and simulates a double glazing thickness of 24mm as standard. A suite of clip on sections and adaptors allow conversion of the ventilator to all other sizes of glazing. Normally the ventilators would be supplied to site for installation and glazing by the glazing contractor.

The ventilators are complete with glazing bead and gaskets to suit various infill panels.

In addition various flanges and adaptor frames are available to allow integration with non glazed structures.

For horizontal installations with glazing infill, the maximum dimensions of the ventilator shown in the table may exceed the capabilities of some unit control options and be outside the scope of EN12101 certification. For the specific information refer to the product supplier.

The mass per linear metre of the stirling ventilator is 4.0kg. This includes the following:- base casement profiles and beading and gasket materials.

Additional mass for controls and infill panels are as follows:-

  • Double weather seals
  • Ogee mouldings as standard
  • Precise mechanical sealed mitred joints
  • Full length integral hinge system, easy to remove for onsite access
  • A thermal break system providing maximum thermal insulation
  • Non standard colours are available-choose from RAL & BS colour charts
  • To suit glazing from 24mm up to 35mm
  • Optional opening mechanisms available
  • Custom made to suit all types of glazing applications; Conservatories, Commercial PG systems, Atriums, Timber and UPVC constructions
